MSNBC reports that 100 elephants were slaughtered for their tusks in Chad.

This is both disturbing and an outrage. But before we blame the growing demand from China for ivory, or before we become incensed at the murderers who destroyed these beautiful creatures, perhaps we should look inward, at ourselves and our own culture. And, to put not too fine a point on that introspection, where did the article appear on MSNBC?

...beneath the news of who got the boot on Project Runway (a reality TV series about designing clothes), below the urgent news that Warren Buffett got married, and below a story on tigers...the Detroit Tigers.
